게임피아㈜(대표 정종헌, www.egamepia.com)는 Quantic Dream과 협력하여, Parallel Stuido에서 개발한 심해 어드벤처 게임 PlayStation®5 『Under The Waves (언더 더 웨이브즈)』 디럭스 에디션 패키지 제품을 오늘(2023년 11월 23일) 국내 정식 발매한다고 밝혔다. 본 제품은 한국어 자막을 공식으로 지원한다.

『Under The Waves』는 1970년대 북해를 배경으로 한 어드벤처 게임으로, 주인공인 다이버 '스탠'은 상실과 새로운 삶을 받아들이기 위한 고난을 겪게 된다. 게임에서 플레이어는 스탠의 눈을 통해 트라우마를 이겨내며 자신을 구하는 여정을 체험할 수 있으며, 잠수함을 이용해 심해를 탐험하면서, 쓰레기나 수집품 등을 찾아 동굴이나 난파선을 탐험할 수도 있다. 한편 본 게임은 아름다운 바다 풍경과 함께 SF, 복고, 판타지의 요소를 결합하여 1979년의 대체된 세계를 경험할 수 있도록 구성되어 있다.

 『Under The Waves』는 옭아매는 슬픔의 힘에 대해 다루는 서사 중심의 어드벤처 게임이다. 게임은 기술미래주의가 만연한 1970년대의 북해를 배경으로 하며, 북해의 심해 속에 있는 전문 다이버 ‘스탠’이 주인공으로 등장한다. 그는 삶이 뒤바뀔 정도의 상실을 극복하고 새로운 미래를 받아들이기 위해 분투하게 된다. 게임 중 스탠의 심경은 심해의 고립된 환경에서 드러나며, 스스로 만들어낸 고독 속으로 더욱 깊이 빠져든 그는 파도 아래 깊은 곳에서 기묘한 사건을 경험하기 시작한다.

  『Under The Waves』에서 플레이어는 스탠이 되어 트라우마가 된 과거를 극복하고, 그 과정 속에서 자신의 목숨을 구하기 위해 노력하는 한 남자의 시적인 수중 모험을 체험할 수 있다. 심해 수중을 탐험하기 위해 잠수함을 조종하여 뒷이야기가 담겨있는 물건들과 쓰레기, 수집품 등을 찾아 동굴과 난파선, 수중 식물 사이로 헤엄쳐 나가야 한다. 본 게임에서는 깊이를 알 수 없는 심해와 복고풍 미래주의적 시설 등 아름다운 바다 풍경을 감상할 수 있을 뿐만 아니라 잔잔한 사운드트랙과 SF, 복고, 판타지의 공존이 만들어내는 1979년의 대체현실을 체험해볼 수 있다.
